Doesn't Recommend Negative Outlook Disapproves of CEO Pros Good benefits, low insurance cost,401k, disability insurance. Pay is ok. Cons Going thru a transition period with new upper management, who are really driving morale down.Expect people not to have a life basically.Limit vacation to only two weeks, not a day more, even if you have five weeks vacation after working 25 years. Second shift hours are the worst since the times can change. Mandatory overtime, which might not sound bad but after a while it drains you out. Advice to Management Give employees more initiative to do well.Taking away many things is not the best way to do so. You get more with honey than with vinegar. Promotions on the floor are handled strictly according to the Union contract (seniority). Promotion in the office is based on performance. Termination is also handled strictly according to the Union contract. Our goal together with the Union is to not get to the point where we have to terminate an employee. Our business is too complicated and is in need of skilled, experienced employees as we can afford to run a hire and fire company. 30% of our employees have 20+ years experience. Many have 40+ years experience. We are proud of them.

Pros

Great benefits, the company does reinvest it's capital. Overtime is mandatory on a point system and is somewhat optional for non hourly employees.

Cons

Aerospace work can be challenging. Office and salary can try for improvements, but customer demands make implementation difficult due to lack of profit. Newer management getting sucked into the old ways of Arrow Gear because of this. Although union works well with the company, it's difficult to increase the morale of 30 year vets.

Pros

Arrow was competitive regarding pay for certain positions. A lot of attention was given to quality and making sure that only the absolute best products are shipped out.

Cons

There was a total lack of morale among all employees. Fear was the motivating tool used to force things to happen. Many in the management ranks are expected to work nearly every weekend as well as overtime throughout the week. Money is tight, and that is understandable, but employees still need to be given the tools to perform their jobs. Beating people up because they simply do not have the tools to do their job is not the fault of the employee. HR seemed to have some practices that appeared to not be ethical, but who do you go to then?

AGC went through a transition phase from family employee driven business to a process driven business. Besides improvements in quality and delivery it certainly also introduced accountability for performance. Some people might be afraid of this as they are not used to be measured by their output. Last year 1% of our employees got released involuntarily due to performance issues. Not a large amount. We were able to work with most employees. Overtime is required because we had a large past due backlog. It is normal to work more to reduce customer impact but we also try to accommodate the desire or no desire for OT based on the group. Due to all the changes made the future outlook for AGC and job security was never better than now.
