Highly political, zero work-life balance and blame culture

Pros

Some good corporate benefits, central office

Cons

Ascential has a lot of potential with some great brands but there is no cohesive culture. The CEO is smart but is quick to belittle his employees (senior and junior), often talking over them, laughing at them or walking out of meetings. His senior management pander to him and copy his behaviour, putting huge pressure on their teams and blame junior employees for the poor strategic decisions they make (there's a lot of micro-management and trash talk). Expect zero work-life balance and an unsupportive culture from a company that makes decisions based on what the CEO feels like and changes directions as the wind blows. Very little opportunity for progression.

Pros

Used to have a great team and culture and invest in training etc.

Cons

Everything cut, no team building and not a great work place culture anymore, very apparent the execs are in it for themselves and not for the development of their staff or well-being (especially after the increase of wage given to CEO’s and bonus cuts from the rest of the company and stops on pay rises. Selfish.) Also, it was astounding how cuts were made but random large sums of money would be ‘miracoulsly’ found once a sales team memember needed more money. A lot of money wasted in certain areas which could have funded something more beneficial to the employees development. Pay gap between genders also a huge problem here and flexible working not offered to the hard working mums who have to do it all - some brilliant female employees lost due to the company’s insensitive nature towards their staff.

Not the best place to work

Pros

- great flexibility in working from home - lots of award opportunities e.g elite awards - culture is great and people on the whole are lovely.

Cons

- zero progression opportunities/development - managers that are not fit for management (require training) - work/life balance is non-existent - lower than market rate pay - benefits do not exist (pay for them all yourself e.g no free private health care)
