Promising product, lackluster leadership

Pros

Excellent compensation and people are passionate about the product. Compared to other work force management platforms Assembled is impressive.

Cons

There’s a reason there aren’t many reviews from current employees, even though the company attempted to get people to add some. Assembled has cultivated a culture that is tense. Employees who have been with the company the longest are the only ones with real job security, and there is a marked favoritism towards those who are friends with those people. The company isn’t afraid to let people go in the name of saving money, while the CEO’s continue pocketing money from investors. The CEO’s, particularly Ryan want a group of people who will do exactly what they say and what they want. This includes agreeing with their choices even with little to no explanation (example: huge leadership changes over night, teams almost completely let go, etc) or doing what they want like going to the office instead of committing to making remote work better. There is a marked lack of employees who have lasted over a year, either leaving themselves or being let go by leadership. This company has a lot of promise but the leadership is incredibly frustrating. There’s no proper mentorship, or growth opportunities. Everyone is very passionate but at the end of the day passion will not make up for unhappy customers, and unhappy customers will continue to happen if employees cannot feel secure in their jobs.

Squandered Potential, Mismanagement, and High Turnover

Pros

Comp is ok for a startup but recently budgets have been slashed so this is likely changing. The non-management people are amazing to work with and super smart.

Cons

Assembled possesses great potential, backed by a team of talented individuals. However, the company failes to effectively channel this potential. There's a blatant lack of focus on developing core software features, causing it to lag behind competitors in the market. Middle management, driven by a narrow financial perspective (everything must be directly tied to a dollar amount), curbs innovation instead of fostering it. This managerial approach is uncharacteristic of a startup and stifles the creative spirit essential for growth. Assembled also has a concerning trend of sudden layoffs, which includes high performers, resulting in substantial morale depletion, which has happened multiple times in the last 12 months. This situation, coupled with an inability to retain talent, particularly in the areas of software engineering and product management, is very worrying for a software startup that is a small player. Assembled's future to disrupt and delivery a truly needed new type of product is very much at risk.

Horrible

Pros

Enticing compensation. Enticing equity payout should you last longer than a year (rare) and the company has a successful exit

Cons

Awful executive leadership. Unstable company at best Look at the reviews, everything has already been said. Anything with 5 stars is most likely leadership trying to save face. If you are applying, do your due diligence and talk with someone who has or is currently working there.
