This company and position is one of the most draining experiences I have had in 9 years of my career. And the problem is it was rarely, if ever, rewarding. With this being a corporate level position, it was much clearer witnessing corporate cultureand clearly can see procedures and overall outlook from the top down. Culture is virtually non existent at the corporate level which bleeds downwards. They consistently, and vehemently tout that "we are family" when in fact it's quite the opposite.
The outlook is that they are the trojan horse of third party management, and because they may be the biggest, but certainly not the best. I'd best compare it to the Walmart of property management, when others are the Target. Dozens of competitors are doing it better, and far surpassing in terms of culture, training and advancement. Opportunities for growth (especially raises) are almost non existent, and asking for how to improve will get you a cold shoulder without any specific critique on how to improve. Work life balance is also completely missing.
Trainings are completely overbearing, repetitive, and time consuming and offer little to no value. The training department can be toxic and will waste hours of weekly time, and will make it clear that if you are not involved with your face on the camera, good luck getting any form of promotion (even if your work ethic and property is outperforming in leasing).
Even during a mass pandemic, we were directed to tell on-site teams to head out to campuses, and other public spaces to market. Goals and unnecessary pressure were consistently drilled, which caused undue stress, resentmentand lack of purpose. The top level downward fear of failure always outweighed positivity, and created a unhealthy work atmosphere.
