Pros
I accepted a position at AFP several years ago because I needed a job and they offered me one. Little did I know that it would provide me with opportunity to develop, expose me to excellent management techniques, and act as a model of a well-run, relatively drama-free organization.
Benefits and leave are truly excellent, and compensation is fair insofar as I could tell. Outrageous 401k match, consistent raises, lots of sick leave and vacation, unrivaled parental leave.
There is a culture of excellence and high standards, but it’s also not a place that grinds people down. There is a lot of cyclical work around events and project cycles, but a the end of the day the hours are relaxed. The only people I was aware of working 50 hours a week were well compensated for it.
Leadership is transparent, exceedingly competent, and clear-eyed, while also caring about employees.
Cons
Not sure I have anything but praise for this organization.
