The best thing about Astound _WAS_ the people and culture.
Cons
Things changed a lot at Astound recently. They got a new CEO who laid off most of the company right before Christmas (laid off 23 people and kept only 10 including himself).
-c level lie to people’s faces about what is possible of their careers and what to expect, don’t be naive and fall for a inspirational talk
-a lot of backstabbers and ego maniacs here that have little to no merit to justify any of their claims
-product is absolute trash and marketing is nada
-facilities are borderline a health code violation. Literally no comfort or privacy
-employees are a bunch of dinosaurs that are stuck thinking like it’s 2004
-trust me when I say DONT believe anything management has to tell you. It is all used for manipulating and creating false hope
1. Supporting management staff to do the job and do the job right.
2. I'm working with some of the brightest folks in the Silicon Valley and I've been in the IT industry for over 20+ years. Consulted for 30+ organizations.
3. Every staff member is smart and professional. They treat everybody with respect!
4. The work / life balance is real! It's real with this company. But as adults and professionals, we need to commit to deadlines and project deliverable's... I work from home 4 days out of a week as promised.
Cons
1. For me, it's just a bit of a distance from where I live, 2 hr one way drive... But by allowing me to work from home, it just erases the con right off the book.
2. Snacks and drinks, I'm already overweight as it is... But by having these snacks available, when I do come to the office and stay late, I can atleast snack :).
