Horrible Leadership

Pros

Everyone not in leadership is doing their best to keep the company afloat. Devs are working extra hard but still try to be good teammates to each other, HR is doing everything in their power to keep other employees sane while dealing with leadership whims, product is in a constant chase for "more logos" to please the constant pressure for growth and still try to keep that pressure away from other employees. Oh yeah, they also pay "well".

Cons

Leadership is a disaster. Everyone with a "Chief" in their title is in a power trip, unless you mention "growth" or the trendy word of the moment like "AI" or "crypto" you're invisible to them. They are all about having to be a "team player", which translates to obeying their whims or getting the axe without an opportunity to say goodbye (and yes, the layoffs are common even when they are being profitable). Everyone under them is an unhappy liar or simply delusional. The interview process is long, tedious and they might change the role months in if someone doesn't quite like you.

Working here is Para-para-paradise

Pros

Working at Astronomer is like living in a Sky Full of Stars—the tech is cutting-edge, and the team’s passion for data pipelines is Clocks-level precise. The office vibe is usually Viva La Vida, with flexible hours and a chance to Shiver with excitement over cool projects. Leadership has The Scientist mindset, always experimenting with new ideas, and the swag is Yellow-worthy.

Cons

Lately, it feels like we’re stuck in a Fix You situation. The rumor mill’s spinning faster than a Speed of Sound after that viral moment. Some higher-ups seem to be Lost! in their own Paradise, leaving us wondering if workplace boundaries are just A Rush of Blood to the Head. Gossip’s got everyone distracting from the Magic of our work. HR could use a Warning Sign to tighten up culture and communication.

Pros

Aggressive comp plan for sales reps

Cons

It's pretty clear that every time a negative review is written here that 2-3 positive ones surface soon afterwards. This is an effort by the company to save their brand. Looks on LinkedIn! If you are interviewing for a sales role there it's easy to see the DOZENS of sales reps that worked there for <12 months in the past 2 years. This place is the definition of a chop shop which is the same culture at other companies where sales leadership has worked (Lacework, etc). Do not be fooled by their recruiting team at Sutter Hill, the fake reviews on Glassdoor, or the aggressive comp plan that few reps are making money on. There are plenty of other great companies hiring great reps right now. Avoid this place at all costs.
