Pros

In theory the "mission" is to help those with mental health disorders (in reality the firm just cares about money and its stock price). Some great/intelligent colleagues who are sometimes undervalued.

Cons

An incredibly disorganised company, lots of virtue signalling externally but treats staff very poorly, many colleagues burn out or have breakdowns, below market compensation.

Hi there, I was very sorry to hear that you feel this way about your time at atai. I would really encourage you to speak to your line manager and/or HR lead to share this feedback and your individual experience. Mental health is a priority for us - for our business and our people. If that doesn't fit with your experience, it’s important we know so we can address this. We recognize that the pace of any start-up can be intense and we work to actively manage this. I hope you shared your views in our recent staff survey (which you'll have seen scored 85% positive engagement, 13 points above the industry standard). Compensation at atai is benchmarked against the external market and reviewed annually in order to remain competitive. I hope you're taking advantage of our well-being initiatives. I’m sure you joined atai because, like all of us, you care about mental health. This should, of course, include your own and your colleagues. Please let us know how we can support you and help you be part of the solution.  Anna (VP of People & Culture)

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that your experience isn't as positive as we would like it to be. We pride ourselves on being a transparent organization where questions are encouraged at every level, so it's unfortunate to hear that this has not been your experience. If you are still a current employee, I strongly encourage you to get in touch with either your manager or me directly to discuss your concerns and be part of the solution.  Anna (VP of People & Culture)

Pros

The atai team work hard to live their commitment to mental health with a wonderful balance of focus and engagement with stress-relief practices, inter-personal connectedness and overt discussions about the benefits of staff being most productive when working in their areas of strength with active support to limit stress, being over-worked or choosing between family and work. A brilliant group of highly experienced professionals, the atai team are dedicated to meaningful success on a personal and team/company level that is truly led and inspired from the top down with caring and attentive leadership.

Cons

As a virtual company across three continents, staying connected with each other is inevitably challenging. But this is a challenge that the atai team constantly works to address and is continuously looking to improve methods of enabling team connections as people not just arms-length professionals.
