      Questionable leadership

      Pros

      You will meet the best, most supportive colleagues you could want in this organization. Many of the directors and people leaders are a dream to work with, who will go above and beyond to empower, develop, support, and protect their teams. Cross-team collaboration is always enjoyable, because everyone I’ve encountered is friendly, helpful, and open to share their knowledge, be it industry-, product-, or even organization-related. The culture has been intentionally and lovingly built, and the people that were hired to date have been truly special.

      Cons

      That culture that was lovingly and intentionally built, resulting in a unicorn of a workplace culture where you’ll meet the best colleagues? Its champion and key driver was unceremoniously removed along with another key leader in the organization recently in a move that baffled and terrified the rest of us. Among reasons cited was a “misalignment” in direction among the leadership. If that direction is going to be set by the CEO (given this misguided decision appears to be his), then it will be a chaotically charted course that eventually loses sight of its destination, not unlike his vision for the product. We tout transparency as a key factor of our culture, but the CEO is the only upper management leader whose entire calendar is marked private, and he seems pretty intent on demolishing the remaining pillars of organizational transparency that had previously distinguished Athennian from other workplaces. Two stars for excellent colleagues but the future looks pretty grim.

      It could have been great…

      Competitive salary, ok benefits, stock options

      The CEO just blew up this amazing organization by firing the only executives who cared about culture, diversity, process, and the learning value the organization purports to abide by. CEO obviously has the ear of the board, or the board doesn’t care. CEO is manic and narcissistic, doesn’t listen to management, makes decisions erratically, and is an absolute failure of a leader. This company was on the verge of being truly great and one man blew it up over the course of a few days because he doesn’t like to be challenged. What an epic disappointment. I wouldn’t recommend working for this company while Adrian Camara is at the helm. Maybe the board will wake up and replace him soon… tough to say. This org now faces a huge business continuity risk. I anticipate a mass exodus of institutional expertise and leadership in the coming weeks.

      Stay Away

      There are few people left who are good to work with.

      Cons

      - Company is struggling to find their place in a shifting market and alienating legacy clients in the process - Sales have slowed to a crawl and the organization is constantly restructuring to try and find its new market (and having limited success in the process) - Senior leadership is distant, cruel, politically, morally and ethically questionable - Over the past year its become regular to see co-workers just disappear without a trace with no mention - Multiple rounds of layoffs, but they have never been acknowledged as layoffs - The ship is sinking, the future is not bright and the leadership only cares about themselves and their enrichment
