      Pros

      Excellent health insurance, plentiful time off, mostly laid back environment if you do your work. Typical state ran agency.

      Cons

      Micromanagement, lots of red tape to hack through to get almost anything done, lack of freedom to be creative, have to pick up the slack for many. Poor management in certain positions. Zero training, zero assistance from HR (best bet is to do a google search on anything you plan to ask HR), no room to advance, promotions don't happen, salary increases are a joke. Money is thrown at the most obscure projects. Everyone works in silos. Poor communication, but I do think that is getting better with a new president on board. No alternative work schedules what so ever.
