Pros

Atlas says they only hire the best and it shows in the culture and performance of the employees. Everyone in the organization gives 110% and you are expected to do so as well. If that's the type of environment you thrive in, you will like this place. Employees are well taken care of.

Cons

The company is still young so chaos can reign at times. The benefits package is not on par with larger companies.

We have been working hard to enhance the benefits package. We offer BCBS of AL medical/dental coverage that is funded 100% by the company for employee-only coverage. We also have a retirement plan match, generous professional development allowance, and maternity/paternity benefits.

Pros

Passionate coworkers who do their best despite big problems at the top. Flexibility.

Cons

Always feel like nothing you do is good enough. C-suite says they care about the employees but several common practices say otherwise. They have a reputation for not following through with promised raises. Despite being a small company with what they say is an open-door policy, senior leadership does not talk to employees who are not in management roles. HR gives regular anonymous feedback surveys to the entire company. The surveys are not actually anonymous, and employees who give negative feedback are singled out and experience career repercussions. Negative feedback is also largely ignored. The employees are practically begging management to change, yet they are not taken seriously. Atlas used to be a great place to work, but now morale is very low and management's separation from everyone else increases all the time.

While we believe every opinion expressed herein is a valid one that should be considered in earnest, we also feel it is important to address statements that misrepresent our culture ¬¬¬for the sake of ensuring prospective employees do have accurate information upon which to base their decision to pursue a career at Atlas. That being said, I appreciate you taking the time to write a review. Indeed, we have very high expectations of our employees and coworkers do of each other as well. It can be stressful at times. The type of people who thrive in our environment are those who are specifically seeking a challenging, fast paced, competitive, transparent (sometimes to a fault), high risk but high reward culture. This is what we desire to be and actively seek people who are looking for that as well. In return, Atlas has always followed through on the promise to give employees the opportunity to take ownership of their area of responsibility and the autonomy to make a difference. In fact, 39 people (30% of the company) were promoted with an increase in responsibility in 2016. We also have an annual compensation review process, which is based entirely on merit, during which we reward those who have exceeded expectations with above-average compensation increases. In these cases, we ABSOLUTELY rewarded “yes” people – those people who have the determination to say “yes, I will figure out that problem” or “yes, my team will work together to accomplish that important goal” or “yes, I will come back to you will a recommendation for the most appropriate next steps”. We regularly and openly accept and act upon constructive feedback. These are often acknowledged during our quarterly company-wide meetings where our CEO gives company updates on the status of our company goals. In fact, the majority of this year’s annual goals are derived directly from helpful employee feedback, which we seek fervently and take very seriously. During these quarterly meetings, our CEO also holds “Town Hall” (an open, informal discussion) and conducts an awards “ceremony” where those who went “above and beyond the call of duty” are recognized by him for their specific accomplishments. These quarterly events are fantastic opportunities for employees at all levels and across all departments to interact. In conclusion, I agree with the title of this post – “Proceed with Caution”. Because we need people who are self-motivated, determined to accomplish their goals, and who consider every day a professional challenge with the opportunity to dive in to the ambiguity and learn something new. I realize this sounds exhausting but it can also be incredibly rewarding!
