Pros

Pleasant surroundings. That's about all pros!

Cons

Incompetent management. massive turnover of staff. Ridiculous proceedures that don't make sense to purchaser's or employees. Acutely badly run, with management solely focused on themselves and couldn't give two hoots about their staff!

Pros

Learning and education opportunities available.

Cons

Pay was never correct. Worked way above contracted hours. Staff shortage. Constantly bothered on days off to work. Constantly asked to work more. On-call process was a shambles. Emotional blackmail. Never acknowledged or thanked for going above and beyond for the company. Management incredibly poor, never provided any support or help, even from area and regional managers. If you decide to do any qualifications with them you are trapped for a year after you complete it. Otherwise you will have to pay for the entire qualification which will be thousands of pounds. (Level 4 - £8000) Entire management team were carried by the excellent work that the carers provided. The list goes on, do not work for this company! They suck the life out of you and expect you to thank them for it. For a company that supply care, they do not care about any of their staff.

Pros

Loved working with the residents, they became what I would consider my family over the 4 years that I was there and I regularly see them even years after I have left.

Cons

I worked at Audley Ilkley for around 4 years and we had a lovely team of staff who went above and beyond their duties. Everyone really cared for the residents and each other. New management came in who completely looked down upon anybody below him, was the worst manager I have had in my career. Not a people person at all. Not long after his arrival staff couldn't bare it and left. It really upset the residents as they had built up a relationship with these people who worked in what technically is their home. Complaints were made, and it was obvious people were leaving because of the new managements attitude but HR refused to listen to a word people said. When it came to my departure I felt it was an utter mess, I raised my concerns with HR about how I was being treated with my departure, I made some serious comments however I felt as if my turn to HR was thrown in my face like I was bothering them. If you can't talk to your HR about issues within the workplace then I don't know why you're there. It's all completely corrupt! Safe to say I have heard that complaints are still being made and HR are turning a blind eye. I'm not surprised at all.

Dear Anonymous - I am sorry that you feel this way about your employment with Audley, especially since you are alleged to have worked with us for a number of years. As the HR Director, I can say that of the leavers we have had in Clevedon this year, no complaint has been escalated to me for consideration and I can assure you, we do take complaints very seriously. If you would like to contact me to share your concerns then please feel free to mail me personally on amandap@audleyretirement.co.uk I would be happy to consider your experience with us.
