You are absolutely "in" or "out". Advancement is all about who you know and you are in good with. The 'best place to work in Milwaukee' status is clearly from those who are in the 'clique', because if you are not, it is barely tolerable. Do not be deceived by the fancy new building and the extensive interview process - they want you to believe that they hire the best of the best, but they will hire anyone to fill a classroom. Promotions go to the people who butter up admin the most.
