I worked at AusGroup for more than a year

      Pros

AGC is a good company. It offers opportunities in a variety of range from skilled to staff positions. it is also a growing company

      Cons

Company is having financial difficulties, too bad that around 50% of the office staff have been maid redundant.

I have been working at AusGroup full-time

      Pros

Roster, work life balance is good for a large LNG Project

      Cons

Project Management is very weak, inexperienced and lacks LNG expertise, Pay is terrible, Due diligence when hiring the correct personnel for the job is highly questionable, lack of adequate technical leadership!

      Advice to Management

Start being a bit fairer and stop blaming the client for the high turnover.

      I worked at AusGroup

      Pros

I need to put in 20 words, so I will say that the pros about working here are that the vending machine has been upfront, honest and reliable in all my dealings with it. It has provided me with the goods on time, at the agreed price and with a minimum of fuss. It has never shirked its duties, blamed others, taken credit for others work or lied to me. It truly is an anomaly in the AusGroup office and I hope it gets...

      Cons

The board consists of Singaporean financiers and investors who have no idea or any experience in running an Australian based construction, fabrication, maintenance company. A 20% shareholder in the company installed one of its senior executives as the MD of the Company. The MD doesn't work from the AusGroup office, he works from the shareholders office. The board meets at the shareholders office, not AusGroup's......hmmmmmm!!...

      Advice to Management

The company was broken years ago through a lack of leadership and an appalling culture that has resulted in huge turnover and a horrific stench attached to the company's name. Employees don't like working there, are disengaged and disgusted by some of the behaviour and rampant bullying. This has gone on for years unchecked and in many cases has been rewarded. It was going to catch up with the company eventually and...

      I worked at AusGroup full-time

      Pros

Excellent people up to and including Middle Management and some Senior Management Reasonable pay Transparent feedback and performance review processes Work/Life Balance not a problem if you apply the same levels of concern as corporate leadership do.

      Cons

Toxic blame culture actively encouraged by Executive and Senior Management, complete absence of adherence to stated corporate values. Slam dunk harassment and illegal activities by Executives, including HR area, are wilfully ignored. Executive and Senior Management lie to each other and to junior staff on regular basis. Chaotic or non-existent governance builds reliance on people's superhuman efforts to get things...

      Advice to Management

There seems to be a massive disconnect between the Board and the very poor Executive and Senior management levels at the company, or else action would've been taken long ago. The company is basically on it's last legs now in 2016, and it's hard not to feel just a little Schadenfreude. I do however feel sorry for the plenty of line, junior and middle management as well as some senior management who actually represent the...

I have been working at AusGroup full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Senior management has just had a complete overhaul. Time will tell if that pays off or if it fails in the long run.

      Cons

Australian management in recent years has been less than successful with a number of mass redundancies in recent years. Seem to hire the wrong people for the job on occasions.

      Advice to Management

Make sure the right people are being hired for the jobs. Make the tough decisions early in the piece, when they need to be made rather than waiting to be forced to make them when it is too late.

I worked at AusGroup full-time for more than a year

      Pros

I have to follow the advice of the above post. There's a twenty word minimum on this section so I'm just typing this as filler, as after 1 year with AGC, I cannot think of any Pros.

      Cons

I worked at Ausgroup for just over 1 year on two different projects. AGC were the smallest contractor I have worked for, my history has been with much larger Tier 1 businesses. I was warned about AGC by a number of my colleagues when I told them I resigned from a larger contractor to take a job there. Looking back I wish I had heeded their advice. I have currently returned to a large contractor where everything has...

      Advice to Management

Implement systems where you can recognise competence for key roles- set minimum benchmarks. Have a top down approach as these managers should hire good staff underneath.

      Pros

There's a twenty word minimum on this section so I'm just typing this as filler, as after three years with AGC, I cannot think of any Pros.

      Cons

      • I had 4 different managers in three years. This was not because of poor hiring but because of the abysmal management of senior exec's who it seemed know nothing about what their company does. • No concept by the vast majority of managers of what the company's management system is for. • Each department is a bureaucratic mess that inhibits improvement • Departments don't talk to each other • With the exception of 2,...

      Advice to Management
