Pros

The actual work itself was great, plenty to do to stay busy

Cons

Nothing is organized as it should be, poor communication, toxic environment, terrible HR department (shares confidential information with managers who are the problem), working 2-4 positions at once

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you associate your tenure with ACB as “the worst place you have ever worked”, that is unfortunate for you and for us. As you know from working here, we are experiencing a tremendous amount of growth. For example, we expanded from just 1 location and 13 employees to 10 locations and over 130 employees in a little over a year. With that type of exponential growth often comes growing pains. Often as a small company scales up, employees are asked to play multiple roles until the company achieves the scale necessary to create a dedicated position for each function. I’m sorry you saw this as negative rather than an opportunity to expand your skill set and enhance your experience. We encourage open communication among our staff, but if you would like to contact me and discuss your tenure with us, please feel free to contact me directly. I would like to personally thank you for contributing to our growth and only wish your time here had been more satisfying for you personally. Erik, President and CEO.

Pros

Truly there are none, this place is the worst of the worst.

Cons

Absolutely the worst place I have ever worked, can't tell you how toxic the environment is. The worst of the worst.... HR is a total joke, CEO brushes his teeth in the break room sink, how gross, and unprofessional is that? Need I say more?

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry to hear you had such a frustrating experience as this is not the norm for most of our current employees here at Austin Capital Bank. Direct feedback from our team members helps us get better and we truly wish you would have brought your frustration to our attention while you were here. We set a high standard for management and team members. We regularly meet to discuss ways to improve our working environment and culture for all of us. While we didn’t measure up to your expectations, I’ d like to thank you for being a part of our rapidly growing team and encourage you to reach out to me directly if you’d like to discuss any remaining specific concerns you had related to your tenure with us, Erik, President and CEO.

Pros

Given the size of the company you truly get to take on functions outside of your own if you choose to do so. Plenty of work to go around and learn about the different aspects of the business. One of the best performing community banks in the state.

Cons

Employee recruitment and retention is a disaster. In the time that I worked there where the average employee count was around 13 or so, there was one person fired, another quit, another was fired, yet another was fired, and one more quit. At the time of my departure at least two additional employees were contemplating their exit. It is often said that employees should be treated fairly and not equally. At ACB neither was true. Expectations of certain employees were lax due to their age or incompetency and not of others. Company vision and direction was constantly changing. Employees were frustrated due to the inconsistencies in company policies .

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for your feedback and for recognizing that we are one of the best performing community banks in the state, we are truly proud of it! You were a part of our success and we sincerely thank you for that. It looks like you departed quite some time ago and were referring to a time when we were a small community bank with 12 employees. Your comment identifies one of the largest challenges of being an employer in Austin. Austin is an incredibly challenging market to identify, attract, and retain highly-qualified employees. Despite those hiring and retention challenges, today we have grown from just 12 employees to over 130 employees in 10 different states and we continue to grow rapidly. Upward mobility and advancement opportunities are key areas of focus for us. We implement practices that encourage our staff to learn and acquire new skills. We have Tuition Reimbursement Program for our current staff and always strive to promote individuals within our organization. We strongly believe that our future success is contingent upon home-grown talent. I would like to thank you for contributing to our growth in the past and wish that your time here had been more rewarding for you personally. Erik, President and CEO.
