Pros

Facilities are nice, however you are isolated from the greater downtown amenities. Excellent passionate co-workers, the skilled in-house recruiters did an excellent job assembling talent. No drug testing.

Cons

6 Managers in 1 year. Reorg after Reorg with laughably frequent executive and director level churn. They are growing fast in the director suite and in support staff to paper over issues but are unable to hire talent to actually execute work. When it comes to actual technology the platforms and software are years behind, using early 00's era methodologies and driving principles. The disconnect from any modern tech startup practices is extreme. For instance, UI changes are coupled with monolithic software logic and direct database calls and long lived virtual machines and outdated frameworks, any change no matter how minor can be the cause of a complex and frequent Sev1 issues. These problems and environmental instability issues have created a blame-first culture where the lowest employee who triggered the exotic error in decade old code or triaged the issue at 3AM not found in testing is blamed, not the fundamental lack of consistent containerized environments, decoupled microservices, APIs, and data-abstraction layer. This outmoded technology stack is only running through heroics and at the expense of the personal lives of employees. Due to this dependency if an employee is truly contributing they are unlikely to be promoted in any area other than responsibility, while the non-technical rise rapidly and buy snake oil. Pay is below Charlotte tech market rate contributing to intense turnover.

AvidXchange is growing at a rate that is unmatched by other companies our size. What we do is complex and requires patience, tolerance and agility to address shifting priorities. We recognize that change is constant. Our senior leadership team is super intentional about the strategic decisions they make to ensure we’re able to adjust to the needs of our customers and markets. We are making good strides across our Technology teams though probably not at the pace which is preferred. We appreciate you sharing your feedback with us and we wish you continued success in your future endeavors.

Pros

I would like to take this time to thank AvidXchange for creating an environment where I learned to endure blatant misogyny, racism, constant bullying (both passive and professionally aggressive), and your cavalier approach to avoid professionalism in all that you do. Thank you for taunting your employees and forcing them to take a survey about how terrible this business truly is, only to shrug your shoulders and say “we need to do better”, but do nothing, and most of all thank you for showing me how easy it is to run a disfunctional sweat shop, but fool the public with fake dinners and social media posts and partnering with the CBJ to feel better about yourselves, Now let’s get to the cons or as AvidXchange would like to call them “opportunities “

Cons

This company struggled with every goal they announced since leaders and managers are weak, favoritism was rampant, knee jerk decisions were prevasive, and there was an overall lack of inclusion. The call center team is treated like second hand citizens. The leaders who were over this team acted as if it was some sort of sorority/fraternity, which is Avid’s culture in general. If you’re thinking of coming here, prepare to be professionally hazed where all decisions and industry standards no longer matter. If you are not a part of the inexperienced click who worked their way to the top when there were only 100 employees, prepare to age yourself with the insanity by 20 years. Prepare to work for leaders who will take credit for your work. In all of my professional career, I have never seen a business function with such ignorance. The product is also held together by duct tape, bugs are the norm, our customers are fed up, while the leaders there sit in their ivory tower with their favorites thinking of the next smoke and mirrors messsge to craft. If you are from a larger city, company, a woman, or someone who is not white thinking of coming here, don’t leave home without your bullet proof vest. You will rarely be promoted, or you will have to suit up and fight for one, while others who do not meet this criteria will simply collect $200 and pass GO & collect their next promotion with a high 5 from our disconnected CEO. Those who are not a woman or not a minority will simply view your D&I concerns as white noise (no pun intended) or insist there is not an issue. If this the case Avid, put your money where your mouth is and hire an African American executive, or hire a woman from the outside and place her in a corner office. When will you become a company who stops handing manager positions like they’re exclusive memberships with people who look like you? When will you provide career paths and fair opportunities? When will you stop calling your business unit “Talent “ and call team what they need to be doing HR? The only people bringing in Talent are your board members who are trying to save this house of cards before it falls. When will you invest in your people and stop letting good people walk out of the door? When will you clean house and bring in real managers, directors, VPs? When will you right your wrongs and start listening? You have lost good people, the few who are left are looking, you have lost good customers, your products lose data, but the one thing we can rely on you to do well is to sale what we don’t have and not take care of your people.

Pros

Flexibility and nothing else is to offer

Cons

I have been working at Avid for over 3 years now. Since then I’ve seen growth and although I’m pleased to be apart of that growth I am also seeing instances where Racial profiling plays a major factor in the company. At this time there are NO people of color in leadership roles unless they are a team lead. There have been instances where people with years of experience are being looked over based on the color of their skin. This company also looks at titles. If you’re a Director or Vice President then you receive more respect than being a specialist or just a coach. They hire Managers from the outside world to try and better the business and although some fits with the culture there are others that do not. Avidxchange culture is not the same. I understand with growth come change but don’t loose sight of those who helped with he growth. Avidxchange has no loyalty. This place disrespects people of color all the time. I am not of ethnic background however, the friends I met throughout the years are. Seeing them work so hard to achieve a goal and get overlooked by someone with less qualifications, a recent college student and white kills my soul. I have friends with Master Degrees that are still specialist. This is ridiculous! Don’t come to Avidxchange if you want career advancement if you’re a person of color. It scares me to think that this still occurs in 2019. You are constantly micromanaged by new managers that don’t even know the business and think numbers define us. I pray for this company.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Your comments are troublesome and do not reflect our desire to ensure that every one of our teammates’ feel valued, heard and treated with respect. This includes how we understand our teammates, their skills, experiences and performance. We've begun our Diversity & Inclusion journey last year, and we’re very focused on doing the work slowly, intentionally and with great respect for the perspectives and insights that every teammate brings to the workplace.
