Pros

Rank and file employees are generally nice, easy to get along with. People here like to do things together like go running over lunch or go out to eat; they want to be friends, not just coworkers.

Cons

Technical design leadership is extremely weak (read: CTO sucks). Product design is 100% top-down from the CTO, who insists on making all decisions himself because he doesn't trust his very qualified engineers. Engineers basically place POs on his behalf, weather the wrath of vendors who get frustrated with unreasonable flip-flopping (rightfully so), or are simply his CAD monkeys. His decisions are almost never data driven. He uses his strange brand of logic to justify his calls, which probably sound good to a non-technical person, but are not grounded in real engineering. If you choose to call him out on this, no matter how well founded in data, equations, or best practice your argument is, he will passive-aggressively blacklist you and never acknowledge the value of anything you do. The only way to win and be promoted or recognized, is to suck up. R&D often comes full circle to arrive at a design that had been discarded before; this is quite simply because he has NO ACTUAL IDEA WHAT HE'S DOING. He has a terrible memory for the history of a design, yet never chooses to document anything.

Pros

If you are a frat boy/girl, you'll love it! Fancy business cards, wasteful but really cool company schwag, and easy to divert blame and responsibility to other people who are not in the "in crowd" if you mess up (assuming YOU are in the "in crowd").

Cons

The most incompetent and clueless top management I have ever seen. Executive management completely turns over about every 1-2 years. Some talented and great people have worked there but always leave or are fired because they protest when they are not allowed to do their jobs. The incompetent ones are left because they are obsequious and do not challenge anything. It felt like Junior High School with the clicks and covert ranking of people except that it was more insidious than what a 13 year old can accomplish.

Pros

OCT is a very promising platform. Some of the people working there are wonderful. Clinically could provide excellent outcomes if the data will back up the theory.

Cons

The senior management changes constantly and so do many other roles in marketing and sales. The company has horrible rep for turning over sales people so when you call on customers they practically role their eyes because you are the 5th rep in 4 years. Pantheris is cool but needs a lot of work before it's really ready for massive launch. If you aren't a good old boy from Fox Hollow or Guidant you probably don't fit in. Certain people sour the culture and the mood of the company. I think a lot of people will quit or get fired in the next few months as the post launch reality kicks in. Extremely expensive technology which is not financially competitive.
