Pros

You are given some clients and you take care of them. That’s it. You prep their return, you take care of the clients, and no one bugs you about anything else. There’s no micro management. 55 hour work weeks for 2 months out of the year that’s are not actually enforced, as no one ever tells you that you have to work that much. You just want to work that much because you are part of the team. The second busy season is 40-45 hours per week. A comparable firm would be 65 hours per week 4 months per year. This is way less. You have unlimited vacation and are never scolded for working from home or taking days off. As long as you take care of your clients and are a team player, you are asked to manage yourself. There is no 1650 yearly hour minimum Like in the regional firms. No 1500 hour minimum for tax managers. No minimum at all. They don’t use statistics to judge you. Benefits are the same as regional firms. They have a small company feel but there are over 100 employees.

Cons

Training is a bit laxed as they are used to hiring professionals with experience. This has changed a lot recently as they are hiring people with no experience and training them a lot, but this was a negative. They are growing a lot right now so this appears to be getting fixed out of necessity. They pay a bit less than some of the regional tax firms. If you cannot manage yourself you will not thrive. You have to have the ability to say no to work and manage your own time or you will feel underwater, when in reality you have a few days or weeks worth of work with no deadline.
