Pros

I debated about writing this review for a long time, but after being asked recently by two different contacts if I would recommend working at Azazie I realized that not only do I feel the responsibility of steering my contacts as far away from this company as possible...but if I can prevent even one stranger from working there then writing this review was well worth it. I first want to say that while I speak for myself and only my experience, I know of at least three other employees that have had eerily similar experiences with the CEO/owner as me. To start with the positives, working at Azazie you will meet many young, dedicated, and enthusiastic employees. I worked with a fantastic team of talented and ambitious individuals, and grew so proud of them and the successes we shared together that despite what I am about to say, I did not take the decision to leave lightly. I was initially treated with respect by the Owner/CEO. For the first 6 months or so I believed we had a good working relationship. I really enjoyed the autonomy he gave me and felt I was appreciated and trusted….but this didn’t last long.

Cons

The main problem, which I believe is the root of all other problems at the company, is that the Owner/CEO is not equipped to run a company. He is dishonest, unethical, and is quick to take all credit for the company’s successes while targeting the management team (usually one individual at a time) for all shortcomings. The /CEO uses performance reviews as a means to bully his current target. He will set impossible goals, revise goals from one meeting to the next, or simply come up with a new interpretation or caveat to your previously set goals and act surprised that you weren’t on the same page. Once that person is made miserable enough to quit, he finds his next victim. The result is a workplace that is extremely secretive, competitive, and unhealthy. I believe the Owner/CEO’s need for taking credit for all success is why he picks one manager at a time to blame all problems on. Otherwise, he may have to look at his own leadership and decisions and make changes. If there is always a scapegoat then he can feel confident in his own leadership. The last thing I would like to say is that the workplace environment is the most toxic I have ever experienced. I have spoken to many former and current employees who would agree. Having worked in the fashion industry for 8 years before Azazie, I am very used to high pace and high stress environments. But Azazie is a whole other animal. There are so many lies from the top down that the staff is left feeling very uneasy...who knows what and how did you find out? There are a lot of closed door meetings, whispers, and in the end I found myself doubting if any of it was real...if only it were all just a nightmare.

Thank you for your feedback. I want to make sure that Azazie offers a welcoming, collaborative, and positive work environment. I am disappointed to hear that this was your experience. I will take your comments into consideration as we make plans for further improvements. Since your departure, we have made some improvements I would like to highlight: We have adjusted how we set goals and measure achievements. We now work closely with HR to set SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, Timely) for each employee. We track goals with-in ADP where we can document set-backs and achievements. This helps us set clearer expectations and fosters a more effective conversation during performance reviews. We have made several strides in improving communication and transparency company-wide. We hold Quarterly All Hands and send out monthly newsletters. This gives leaders the chance to share valuable information and gives employees the chance to ask questions anonymously. We have also created a growth tracker available to employees. The growth tracker defines our sales goals and shows our daily progress. There are still improvements to be made. If you would like to provide more feedback, please feel free to contact me or HR. Regards, Charles Zhong, CEO

Pros

Some great ambitious people work here

Cons

Where to begin...Azazie was one of the worst work environments created by its CEO. There was competition between departments and within your own and everyone was in fear of losing their jobs. Getting yelled at, embarrassed, and made fun of in front of coworkers was a common thing. This is not a place to work if you want to be motivated , respected, and given encouragement or clear communication which is the environment the CEO created. Do not work here.

Pros

literally none 0/10 would not rec after four years

Cons

I’ve been with Azazie for 4 years and let me tell you something… I’m in therapy because of it. The social media goals are unrealistic and you’re expected to work like a dog for dollars. The work environment is very hostile and not appropriate for whatsoever. There has been loads of inappropriate comments made by the ceo himself on top of a ton of higher ups. I drastically changed the social media and was not rewarded simply because the ceo didn’t like me :) I had so many ideas and got so many brand collabs with such amazing companies and I got nothing from the work place in return; instead I was expected to work harder.
