Pros

As with any organization, B3 management can be frustrating at times, but as both a consultant and a project manager I've always felt like they had my back. They treat employees fairly and ethically, even in times when (as happens with client work) an employee has been removed from a project without justification. This is not to say that B3 condones poor work, but rather they have the capacity to independently evaluate their employees true skills and abilities and re-assign them to other projects as appropriate (but this does not mean they hesitate to take action when warranted). Suffice to say B3 is not a throw-you-under-the-bus-and-back-over-you-at the-slightest-hint-of-trouble type of organization. B3 has a good understanding of the client and their needs. They allow their consulting teams to do their jobs with minimal interference. Good camaraderie; in general, just nice people to work with. Speaking from first-hand experience, subcontractors are also treated as partners and colleagues.

Cons

Not a training or mentoring organization, rather, a company who primarily hires seasoned professionals who do not need significant training. Not really a con unless you are junior-level. As a small company, there are relatively limited opportunities for the direct charge (project) employees once a contract has expired. No bonus or incentive programs, but good base salary.

Pros

When I first started working for B3 Solutions, I was immediately impressed with the work environment. It is one of authentic generosity, genuine trust, encouragement, and gratitude. Annually, B3 makes a sizable donation of groceries for fifty families via the Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority (ARHA). All employees work together in the process. Some purchased the groceries, others organized the various items into groups, and the remaining employees bagged the items. The company makes donations to the National Canine Division which trains dogs to work for federal, state, and local law enforcement and fire investigation agencies. When one of the employees was sick, everyone donated to help with her medical bills. The donations illustrate B3’s generosity, but a lot of companies make donations to charities. Thus, other attributes of the work environment are important. The generosity extends beyond the community offering generous pay and benefits packages that include medical, dental, 401K, etc. Obviously, pay is important, but it is not the sole factor. One of those attributes that is important to me is trust. I take a lot of pride in my job, which is why I like that I have autonomy when doing it. Nothing is worse than being micro-managed. It gives the impression your boss does not trust your decision-making skills. I have worked for companies that claim they have an “open door policy” but saying or doing the wrong thing can relegate your career to the proverbial trash heap. That isn’t the case here. Management values their employee’s opinions. They trust their employees and wants to create an environment for their employees to grow. Frequently, I was encouraged to seek further training/ education to work on obtaining certifications for my position. I watch some of my peers advance into different positions or be cross-trained so they would become a more valuable member of the team.

Cons

Every workplace has its pros and cons. I enjoy working for B3 Solutions and feel like my peers do too, which is illustrated by the lower turnover rates. Retaining employees has been instrumental to our success. I can not think of "cons" at the moment.
