Hello and thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us. We're so glad you found value in the wellness benefit and our toll fee reimbursements. We're excited to offer these perks to our clinical team members. Let's talk contracts first. Yes, most work with BB Imaging is at-will (rather than contractual), which is standard practice for most companies. We also stipulate upfront that PTO is not paid out as a way to encourage our team members to use it and take the rest they need. Additionally, as a services company, the non-compete clause helps to protect our retention rate, which is vital to developing cohesive clinical teams and minimizing frustrating turnover. Regarding pay and benefits, our pay structure is in "bands," which we review every quarter to ensure sonographers are in the right band and that our pay rates are keeping up with the market. Keeping up with annual reviews is something we have struggled with in the past, however, our last annual performance evaluation period occurred in December 2022. We are now looking at instituting biannual evaluations to better support team members and their growth goals. Additionally, we do pay mileage for people having to commute greater than 25 miles outside of their assigned zone. For those driving further than 60 miles outside their assigned zone, we pay for mileage and drive time, plus a $2 differential for the whole working day. Communication and acting on team member suggestions is something we pride ourselves on. There are so many levels of communication available, from company-wide emails to weekly regional calls to daily team meetings, etc. We encourage minor employee concerns to be addressed at the Charge or Director level, but we also have a large support team that can help address policy/procedure concerns and an anonymous suggestion box that is reviewed and taken very seriously by the executive team. In fact, many of our current policies and benefits are the direct result of team member suggestions and feedback. Again, thank you for your feedback, and we wish you the best moving forward.

Pros

Good pay but super shady

Cons

Consistently let excellent sonographers go or find reasons to fire them- occurs about every 6 months for multiple sonographers across the U.S. Shady management that justifies and backs up management - does not have sonographers' backs & calls them after they've worked all day to let them know, end of day, that is their last day working for BB due to company cut backs. No PTO payout, no severance pay, benefits good for 2 weeks from date of lay off. Ruins ppl's confidence, lives and careers. And they do not care. They simply let you go and move on.

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us. There are a couple of things to respond to here, so let's start with role eliminations. Retaining stellar sonographers is one of our biggest focuses as a company. That said, we do not have regularly-scheduled role eliminations, and the few that have occurred this year are the first since Covid began. Unfortunately, when a market reorganizes or client needs shift, we aren't always able to find more work for everyone, and a role elimination must occur. We try to do this with sensitivity and respect for the role being eliminated and often write letters of recommendation to aid the job-hunting process. Additionally, our exit benefits are clearly laid out in the team manual, which every team member agrees to upon their hire, and which we stick to when a role elimination has to occur. Secondly, we totally understand the desire for more facetime with Blanca and Ben. They aren't just the founders of our organization, they are incredible people that elevate everyone they come into contact with. Unfortunately, their roles come with so many responsibilities that they often don't have the capacity to personally connect with their nearly 200 team members. However, our regional directors, sonographer leads, sonographer development needs, and others all prioritize this more personal connection to help team members make their voices heard, pursue their professional development goals, and thrive during their time with BB Imaging. Again, thank you for sharing this feedback with us, and we wish you the best moving forward.

Control-Driven Culture with No Real Growth

Pros

If you're a skilled sonographer, especially one trained in multiple modalities, you can earn strong income and enjoy flexibility. Long drives are reimbursed and can be manageable. On the admin side, you’ll get exposure to many systems and responsibilities, which is helpful if you’re early in your career.

Cons

Admin roles feel transactional. You’re seen as replaceable, and there’s little to no investment in development. Your value depends entirely on how useful you are in the moment. Some leaders operate from a place of deep mistrust. If you miss a call or do not respond immediately, it can be treated as proof that you are not working. These kinds of assumptions have fueled unnecessary micromanagement and pressure to return to the office even when the majority of the team is remote. The leadership team is disconnected and passive. While some disagree with the CEO’s decisions, they no longer speak up. When concerns about the controlling culture were raised, they were met with defensiveness. The CEO believes he is the smartest person in the room and does not believe existing employees are worth keeping on team. Feedback is treated as disloyalty. Many employees now stay silent and compliant to avoid becoming targets. Trust and open communication are no longer part of the culture. Leadership may ask you to stay during difficult transitions, but once you are no longer seen as necessary, they will replace you. The company markets itself as mission-driven and focused on women’s health, but internally the priority is increasing revenue. Clinical staff are given messaging that sounds compassionate, but the real focus is financial growth and not meaningful impact.
