Awesome mission, bad work environment
Pros
Flexible vacation and work from home policies, working directly with passionate teens, and the ability to speak directly and share ideas with high up employees.
Cons
Main con was very quiet, awkward work environment. Everyone had their heads down in their work and didn't collaborate. If you are a social, outgoing person, I wouldn't recommend working here. (This is in reference to the DC office, field staff may have a different experience.) Also, it was very cliquey at all staff gatherings. Other cons include certain things being mandatory that probably shouldn't be. For example, everyone is required to attend a week-long convention through President's Day Weekend, work more than 12 hour days, and is thrown into chaperoning teens even if you have no experience working with teens. It's definitely not the right organization for everyone so just be sure it's a good fit beforehand.
