Cons

My experience at Bachy Soletanche was deeply disappointing due to a combination of poor leadership, toxic workplace culture, and a lack of genuine concern for employee wellbeing. The HR culture felt reactive rather than supportive, with employee concerns often dismissed or ignored. There appeared to be little emphasis on mental wellbeing or creating a psychologically safe environment for staff. Issues surrounding morale and team dynamics were frequently overlooked. Communication between departments was inconsistent, decision-making was disorganised, and long-term planning often seemed absent. This created unnecessary stress and inefficiency across teams. A particularly concerning aspect of the culture was the presence of long-standing internal relationships and cliques among senior or long-term employees, which created an insular environment resistant to change, new ideas, or outside perspectives. Advancement and opportunities did not always appear to be based on merit. There were also instances of bullying behaviour and unprofessional conduct that were either tolerated or inadequately addressed by management and HR. This contributed to a culture where employees often felt unsupported and reluctant to speak openly. In addition, the company lacked meaningful diversity and inclusion, particularly in leadership and decision-making roles. Different perspectives did not appear to be actively encouraged, and the overall culture could feel exclusionary for those outside established internal networks. The wider organisational culture and leadership approach significantly impacted my overall employee experience in a negative way.
