Pros
Modern office decor, easy to work from home as needed, and the field of business for the company is interesting.
Cons
Where to start. This company has been horribly mismanaged by several consecutive executive management regimes who fail to do anything but serve themselves. I've seen an executive publicly berate a colleague. That same executive routinely throws what could best be described as temper tantrums in the office. The execs want to turn the company into a holding company, but only seem to invest in entities also managed by those same BTN executives, thus siphoning off company reserves and turning a blind eye to conflict of interest and so-called company values like accountability. The gist is that the current regime wants all the credit and none of the responsibility. Most of the executives are horribly under qualified and have no idea what they're doing and zero respect for subordinates who do know what they're doing. Decisions are made in a vacuum. Dissent and tactful, professional concerns are aggressively stomped. Imagine how it feels to be intimately familiar with a particular aspect of the company/business and actually wanting to help only for new managers to come in, ignore you, act like they know more about it than you do, and threaten to fire you when you try and voice concerns. Then the managers blame you anyway when they fail at trying to do your job better. The company is on their 4th straight year of a pay freeze. Employees were informed their health care costs were tripling only days before it went into effect, effectively taking a massive pay cut with no warning. Bonuses went away without even mentioning it to employees in the same year they paid millions in severance pay to previous management. Management is openly and aggressively trying to eliminate most positions. Everything is now focused on Convergent Media Systems in Atlanta, and the Omaha company is barely an afterthought on a good day. HR is completely useless and barely present, as they'd prefer to go garage sale shopping during work hours. Many people were blatantly lied to about their job role, or the company hires for a specific role but then changes their mind and goes in a different direction. Most employees have gone into either full sycophant mode or survival mode, leaving a terrible work-life balance. If you're considering Ballantyne Strong or Convergent Media Systems, I very strongly urge you to reconsider and look elsewhere.
