Pros

Extremely smart and passionate coworkers. Bamboo pays less than market rate but the mission and amazing coworkers made up for it. Things were rosy in Boston prior to the acquisition, following which a gradual deviation in culture for the worse began. WLB is good, very flexible remote options.

Cons

The acquisition happened in 2021, during the pandemic. Short sighted vision by the C-suite resulted in needless hiring which ended up in needless and totally preventable layoffs. Someone from HR has been replying to reviews blaming "Global uncertainty" for the layoffs, but the company has no excuse for the way the layoffs were handled. Employees who had been with the company for years were let go with minimal severance. The HR rep replying to the reviews wrote that the company "strove to provide career and financial support " - which is essentially minimal severance and zero career support. It's sad because a lot of smart and dedicated people joined Bamboo (which pays less than market rate) because of the mission to revolutionize a broken healthcare system and watched as the company crashed and burned due to lame brained decisions by the ELT.

Pros

The people are fantastic and the primary reason I remained at Bamboo Health after the first set of layoffs. My co-workers were respectful and collaborative. Bamboo Health employees tolerate below-market compensation and suffer a leadership team struggling to find the company's identity because they are passionate about revolutionizing healthcare. They offer unlimited PTO (up to 2 weeks in a row), allowing the flexibility to enjoy life outside work.

Cons

Don't come to work here. This company is not going to last. They perform seemingly arbitrary annual layoffs and promise it will not happen again each time. If you choose to work at Bamboo Health: You will be gaslit, Have few opportunities for upward mobility, Earn a salary 15-20% below market, Have enough projects for 2 FTEs with little strategic guidance, Pay high premiums for basic healthcare, Receive worthless stock options, If I'm being fair, you will lose your job during the next round of layoffs. So, don't bother.
