Limited growth and poor management in the Bulgarian office
Pros
There may be some room to transfer and grow in the Western offices compared with other Eastern European offshore locations.
Cons
My experience with the Bulgarian office was disappointing. Career growth appeared to depend heavily on internal relationships rather than clear merit-based progression. Compensation also seemed below Western-market expectations, even for highly qualified professionals with credentials such as the CFA. The UK-based management side appeared more structured and professional, but the local Bulgarian office felt inefficient and poorly managed in comparison. English proficiency also appeared inconsistent, even among some senior managers, recruiters, and consultants. Overall, I would not recommend it to candidates expecting transparent advancement, competitive compensation, or strong local leadership.
