Pros

Free beer. Cool building. Decent clients.

Cons

This place crushed me. I've never seen a more political, clique-centric "professional" environment in my life. Don't challenge the cool kids or you're out. For good. Don't expect to get any developmental feedback either. If they don't think you're where you need to be for your role, you will be set up to fail rather than course-corrected. Leadership and the people in the cool circle are only in it for themselves. Egos drive everything. I'd even venture to call a few of them downright nefarious. Run away and don't look back.

Worst Agency I’ve Ever Worked For. Easily.

Pros

A few nice people. Decent hours aside from when working on pitches, which requires more energy and time than even the sweatiest shops I’ve worked for.

Cons

Terrible clients, shady leadership, run down building, disorganized projects, rampant sexual harassment, insane expectations of hours needed to work on pitches.

Pros

- Aside from the top tier, the majority of the people that work here are hard-working, driven, and wonderful people. - If you can overlook the serious cons, beer and wine are on tap. - Nice rooftop deck if you are able to work away from your desk.

Cons

- Barkley is hemorrhaging employees for good reason, but refuses to acknowledge that there are any issues. - Loyalty is not rewarded in any way, nor is hard work. - Positions are incredibly underpaid for the industry in KC and the only way to advance is for someone above you to leave. - Salaries are not adjusted for cost of living each year. - Reviews are pointless as nothing changes, despite bringing up the same issues over and over again and taking it up the ladder. - The work is mediocre and many "ideas" are straight copies from other agencies/campaigns. - The higher ups are condescending, outright rude and rarely bring anything positive to the table. They expect employees to sacrifice their personal lives and happiness to get work done on that they then pat themselves on the back for.
