Pros

A great case study in how to detroy a company.

Cons

Dan Jenrich, CEO, was presented as a people person with a broad financial background who intamately understood the world of government contacting for a high end custom software design company by the Three saints Bay CEO, Jeff Babos. Jeff said that Dan had the complete and total respect of the more than 400 employees of his (Dan's) previous emloyer. The only truth in this statement was that Dan was CEO and he was presented by Jeff Babos, who hired Dan. Over an 18 month period Mr. Jenrich has systematically destroyed a company that was twice voted the best place to work in South Carolina and in 2010 and 2011 was the third fastest and the fastest growing company, respectively. He replaced the entire management structure with friends from his previous companies who viewed the business as a "commodity" operation, run by an individual whose prior background was that of a warehouse supply executive. It took more than 5 months before Mr. Jenrich condesended to meet with the customer who was responsible for more than 50% of his business. More could be written, but these are the facts. You can draw your own conclusions!

Challenging work, great customers and mission, Barling Bay had great leadership, very smart leaders prior to 2012

Cons

Higher level Alaskan Native Corporation leadership and ethics were so poor, this poison filtered down and ruined a great place to work

Pros

Barling Bay provides competitive salaries and good benefits. In this very difficult economic time Barling Bay still has some contract work that provides much needed paychecks for its employees and their families.

Cons

Barling Bay once had a reputation as a company whose culture, technical prowess, and customer service far exceeded its size. A CEO changeover in early 2012 almost immediately began a downward trend in all facets that continues to this day. Most original senior management was replaced within the first year of the new CEO, and the lone remaining senior manager (our CTO of almost 8 years) was summarily dismissed without comment. No one on the current management team has more than two years of experience with this once great company. The "Do What's Right", Raving Fans mantras appear to have disappeared. A culture that was vibrant, supportive, and collaborative has degenerated to one of fear and intimidation. Those that dare speak out against the new status quo may be disciplined or even terminated. There is no vision and even poorer communication from the top down. From an employee's perspective there appears to be more work flowing away from Barling Bay than into it. Morale is at an all time low.
