Pros

Senior staff are aligned in the future strategy for the company, including core elements of growth, people, and infrastructure. Managers have an open-door policy and are approachable at all levels, including the CEO. Compensation and health benefits are competitive for the industry, and PTO accrual and 401K match are generous.

Cons

Need more opportunities to interact with colleagues (e.g., in-person All Hands, happy hours, etc.). More visits to client sites to visit employees would be good for senior staff to do more often.

Pros

Great program managers that are understanding and also available to discuss how personnel can improve in their work. Flexibility on vacation hours and understanding from corporate executives on leave for injury, illness, bereavement, etc. Matching 401k option available. Generally positive work environment and coworkers within BayFirst offices, as well as onsite locations.

Cons

Lack of communication by leadership on direction of company and clearly defined corporate goals for individual agencies/contracts. If employees are unsure of what capabilities exist within current BF employees, and have no understanding what specific avenues of work BF HQ wants to pursue, how can employees provide any helpful feedback to leadership? Raises are generally small, even with 6yr+ employee, and are less than or match US inflation rate (This in turn provides little incentive to produce good work/win work year over year). Salaries are on average below the median salary for similar positions within other DC-based companies. No sense of "teamwork" culture within BayFirst. This leads to a lack of trust from employees in leadership, as well as a lack of leadership's trust of employees, since they do not generally communicate with one another.

Pros

Smaller company, more visibility which is nice when you're looking for that. People here are down to earth and are relaxed

Cons

Awful PTO - what makes it worse is that there is no movement on how to make it better. Odd how leadership doesn't understand how PTO and mental health is linked in this day and age in the workplace Internal processes is a mess - a 200 person company shouldn't have growing pains of a 50 person company. It's well known internal employees have no experience. No recognition by senior mgmt by paying workers more when it's earned - raises are terrible. Good retention involves paying in this competitive market. That data isn't hard to find.
