Pros

The girls I worked with I left

Cons

Where do I even start.. I was at beauty outlet for 3 years, still even by the end I was still asked my name each time, they don’t have any respect for any employees! Completely agree with all the other reviews on here do NOT work here. Stock is out of date, mouldy, silverfish in the boxes (never even knew what they were before i started here!) I was constantly asked if the stock is fake almost daily by customers on products like CND Shellac as many nail techs would say you shouldn’t be able to sell these, or how have we even got them, also they don’t work like ones they’ve bought elsewhere like not curing properly. Management will constantly watch you on the cameras even after members of staff mentioned how uncomfortable it made them. Managers will speak to you like dirt, are patronising and will talk to you in an aggressive manner. Never been in a company with so much staff turnover, people not turning up for their shifts constantly or just straight up leaving after a few shifts after seeing how badly run the company is. Upper management is now being run by someone who’s never even worked in retail and seriously needs some people skills as she has made everyone who’s left recently hate their job. Black friday for example was one of our best day for sales, she come down to ‘help’ there was no well done or thankyou for our hard work considering we beat other stores by a lot and us being a lot smaller store, she went to nando’s for over 2 hours for dinner at a really busy time and we just got an angry call the next day from the other manager saying why haven’t we beaten the sales from black friday. I always tried to work really hard everytime I was in and it never got recognised I actually got told by her to ‘start stepping up’ which actually was a massive reason I felt so unappreciated here as your hard work will never get recognised and will never be enough for them. Especially after just stepping in as store manager for over a month with no thankyou. Spoke to the owner of the company about some issues I had but as it is a close family run business they will never listen to you everything will just get brushed off. Even if this is a Franchise it is still run by the same family. Pros - The team was once really good before everyone decided to leave, loved all the girls I worked with. I never wanted to leave but I had to as it was too much for me i’m sure they will reply and ignore all of the points above and ask me to reach out to the HR team, however me and the other staff members regularly did this and nothing was ever resolved, whether that was on the phone or email but a good example of this would be when numerous staff members came together, displayed their concerns regarding the store and how we all felt over email. The owner simply rang up and said ‘ that email was too long for me to read’ hence the reviews beauty outlet now have

Pros

My team were nice to work with

Cons

Upper management such as the owners and area manager are a complete nightmare to work with. They have no social skills and they have no idea how to treat their employees. We’re constantly watched on cctv which they say is due to theft in the store but we all know it’s not. They like to get the cctv cameras on their phones, zoom in on girls in other stores and rate them. Some of my team were 16/17 years old so I can imagine it’s the same in other stores. Staff feel unsafe, paranoid and constantly on edge because of this. My team were too scared and anxious to come to work and were crying on their breaks. Stock gets delivered in wet, mouldy boxes which causes the stock to become ruined but we still have to sell it. Some of the products are out of date and it wouldn’t surprise me if some of it was fake due to customer’s complaining so much that the products aren’t the same quality that they’ve had before from other places. My training was nonexistent. I had to teach myself how to do everything and then I would get shouted at down the phone if something wasn’t done right. They look for reasons to complain. They’re never happy no matter how good your team or sales are. Too much negativity. The pay is shocking! A 5p difference between each job role! I felt I wasn’t treated fairly and it was made very clear from the beginning the owners didn’t like me. I couldn’t handle being in this environment anymore so I made the decision to leave.

Thank you for your review. Please can you contact the HR team on HR@beautyoutlets.co.uk so we can investigate your allegations. From your comment about rates of pay I think you may have worked for a franchise store as this does not fall inline with our payroll structure. If you contact us on HR@beautyoutlets.co.uk we can notify you of the correct contact if this is not a store owned by ourselves.

Pros

Discount… that is literally it

Cons

Uniform HORRIBLE and second hand, constantly have buttons falling off and have to pay yourself for new uniform Management are so cliquey and have double standards, we can’t talk to each other but they can all gather together and talk Long shifts (9 hours and more) with only 30 mins break, I usually worked at least 3 9.5 hour shifts a week Expected to drop everything to work as and when they change the rota, without ever asking/consulting staff Half the products are actually sh*t old stock, like really really old, dried up, non pigmented, etc We opened an hour before any other surrounding shops (money hungry owner) HR team is shocking (if there even is one) Forced to push products that are terrible and then managers speak to you rudely if you don’t sell them (Even though people wouldn’t take it even if it was free) Staff room area was tiny, and so uncomfortable so you can barely even enjoy the small break you do get and if someone else is waiting to start shift while you’re on lunch, you may as well sit on top of each other Boss watches the staff in the cameras Pay is bad It was literally the most miserable I’ve ever been in my life, and as soon as I found a new job that changed. I’m now happier than ever.
