Pros

I have sat here staring at this question for about 15 minutes trying to think of one good thing to say about my time here; I could not come up with a single thing.

Cons

Administration in the I.D. department do not do their jobs. Abuse/neglect situations are brushed aside and, for lack of a better word, covered up when a "favorite" is being accused. They want bodies in the group homes, regardless if they're good employees or not. They do not value honesty from the employees who actually care about the clients, instead they punish those who are honest and have the best interest of the clients in mind. They promote the employees who will make their jobs "easier" by not reporting problems and not "rocking the boat".

Pros

Staff you work with, including management very supportive and friendly, close-knit, and like a family. A vast array of MH, IDD and shelter programs that service a wide range of needs for clients in service here. Clients are also treated with respect in a very recovery oriented agency that Bell is. Bell also has a great vision for its future and is always expanding its scope of ways to serve the community. I have such respect for Bell that after left a few years ago I returned again. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting a rewarding career in MH/IDD. They've been around 50 plus years so they must be doing something right. I would highly recommend this agency to anyone wanting to work in non-clinical mental health.

Cons

The mental health field typically doesn't pay well by and large unless you're a clinician. Despite this, salaries at Bell could be better.
