Pros

If you like variety and change this is a great place to work. You won't get bored! Lots of opportunity to work on cutting edge ML / AI / Data products and the end goal is worthwhile.

Cons

If you want to become expert on one small area and never change, you won't enjoy it. Layoffs mid 2025 left some teams light on people, which is disruptive.

Pros

- Worked with a lot of great Scientists in the field - They have some good engineers but won't stay for long

Cons

- Favouritism and nepotism are all over the place. Special treatment for the ex-Klick employees and favour over who can sweet talk the executives. - Nano-management:- They controlled every task that you do. Breathed down the neck daily and weekly by every level of management. - Dictating opinions:- Quarterly engagement surveys and performance reviews each year (8 in total) causing opinion fatigue. This is their deviously tactics to keep everyone away from sharing the experience publicly . People also get scrutinized when they speak their mind in the supposedly anonymous survey. - They disguised as a SaaS business but in fact most features are requested by a particular client . People thought they work hard for a big vision but in reality they are put on hamster wheels. A word of advice for the Scientists who are best at what they do should just make an impact at the bench. This is only a hype. Why would you put up with the crack of whip doing meaningless excel chores and ignore the real calling to work at the lab bench with mRNA and CRISPR technology which you folks are best at. - The CDO is a new PhD grad who thought he knows everything about technology. Wrong choices are made with ego. It was very difficult to work with him as he showed hostility at work. The machine learning team is hindered by his incompetency. He held the company hostage with his convoluted legacy system. - The CEO is just a lucky dude who has connection/background with some VCs for fundings. He has zero regards for you as you are just his little expendable soldiers. Think of all the founders/comrades he got rid of one after the other. When he is finishing with you, all you get is his funny face. Make sure to turn the lights off before you go.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are always looking for ways to continuously improve so we can make BenchSci a great place to work. Transparency is one of our core values, which is why we seek the opinions of our team members through surveys and reviews. We appreciate your candid feedback about the amount of surveys and have taken that into consideration. With our mission to improve the speed and quality of life-saving research, the work we do is focused on what will drive the greatest impact for scientists and patients. We encourage our employees to discover new ways we can do things better. All of our staff go through an intensive interview process to help us build impactful teams of driven, collaborative and ego-free people. Again, we appreciate the feedback you’ve shared with us here. Pros

- remote work - incredible perks - stacked tech

Cons

- hired ridiculously fast for a year only to have lay offs (except they don't call them layoffs at this company because the media might catch wind of it). It's called restructuring at BenchSci - went from a team of 20+ individuals down to a fraction - let go of 7 individuals coming back from Christmas break back to back while promoting the remaining team - seems they needed to free up some budgets - tried to convince the remaining bunch of us to give higher reviews on glassdoor to proactively combat the negative reviews and post all of our promotions so that the posts from individuals who had been let go would be drowned out - blew through so much money in 2022 - mismanaged - buzzwords are incredibly popular here. The newest one seems to be "servant leadership" - nepotism - people are treated like they're replaceable - if you don't agree with the senior leadership, they get combative

Thanks for taking the time to leave this review. While we’re happy to hear you enjoyed our remote work and Total Rewards offerings, we’re saddened to hear that we’ve missed the mark in other areas. We appreciate your candid feedback. We recognize that organizational changes can be disruptive, but want to reassure you that these decisions are not made lightly. That said, the continued support and psychological safety of our team is our top priority. We are continuously working to refine communication and alignment across all levels and are committed to building a workplace that is respectful and promotes an environment where every team member feels safe, valued, and empowered, including sharing their perspectives.
