Pros

Fantastic benefits before Capsugel. Good opportunities to learn (if you can convince leadership to spend money). Most people are fun to work with.

Cons

Staff outside of science/engineering are not considered as important. Salaries are low for industry. Ownership tries to including "living in Bend" as a benefit.

Pros

It was a great place to learn and grow. Pretty much everyone there was brilliant and were great to work with, around or for.

Cons

Capsugel bought Bend Research and drastically changed the culture. It seemed like the best people left because they knew what was coming. Bend Research is/was a huge part of the community, but it seems like Capsugel only cares about the bottom line.

Poor management has really hurt the culture.

Pros

Most of the people are great to work with. Benefits are on par for the tech industry. The science and technology are exciting. The learning opportunities are phenomenal!

Cons

Pay is not up to national industry standard, and benefits have been watered down since Capsugel purchased the company. Average duration of employment is about 4 years, after which people are done drinking the coolaid and move on or are deemed "no longer a good fit". Senior management still rules like their paranoid, narcissist former boss did, perpetuating the culture of fear and distrust. The old cadre of top scientists (called themselves "the skunk works") are egotistical nut jobs that think they have no equal in the pharmaceutical industry. GMP shenanigans (falsified documents and skewed risk assessments) are the norm. There have been so many audits, that they have become adept at hiding the real dirt. Appears that the EU didn't follow the red herring this time.
