Pros

Betaworks was an exciting place to work and the offices were great.

Cons

There was very little mentorship and opportunities to learn. I had expected more from a leading startup studio that championed “best practices.” Unfortunately it was often not using best practices itself, leaving junior team members with little more than a nice item on their resume and no real skills. Many of their companies unfortunately failed as a result and there was a lot of turnover.

Pros

Great office, flexible hours, great perks (lunch 2x a week, fully stocked fridge)

Cons

There is absolutely no mentorship here--which is a shame. Managers are not there to help you learn/grow. The on-boarding process was very basic, essentially they just throw you into the fire and expect that you'll know what is going on. Due to the nature of start-ups, job security is always on the line--so don't leave a good, stable job for this place. Additionally, little diversity (especially in senior management) and people are a bit cliquey.
