Pros

If you’re lucky you’ll get some pretty awesome coworkers.

Cons

Where do I even begin? I’m done with corporate. Sit down for this read, it’s a lot. You will be doing the workload of 2-3 people at all times, and they expect stores to be successful running on five people for the ENTIRE time we’re open. Not five in one shift. Five. Total. Every ten minutes the store music will stop to tell shoppers that we’re hiring, but we don’t even have the hours to give out. They will do ANYTHING except give you a pay raise or a promotion, even though every shift you are running around trying to get everything done with only one other person on top of orders. They’ll say you have opportunities to grow, and for some SMs I genuinely think they meant it. But then higher ups decide “Actually, we don’t want that. Let’s switch around employees and block this promotion from happening.” For the yearly increase I got a 2¢ raise, yet they applaud us for how much money we made over the holidays. It’s such a slap to the face to be told to “transfer to another store” if I was expecting more than that after never ending days of being short staffed, dealing with rushes, yelling customers, multiple orders back to back, all at the same time. And yet, they will hire on people for $2 more than they said the max cap for me is! They will spend thousands on bulk buying products but lay off people because “they don’t have the money.” The money is there, and we know who it’s going to. I’ve had made several reports on issues with employees and hardly anything gets done about it, including a transphobic remark that was made about me to another coworker. I was met with “That wasn’t okay for him to say,” but still NOTHING was done about it. If they aren’t impacting the financial part of the business or threatening violence they will not get written up/terminated. Taking 20+ minute breaks and leaving me alone during sales floor operations, misogyny, harassment, apparently NONE of that matters because I’m just a human being, and the money isn’t being impacted, so why should they care? I’m 90% certain they are violating labor laws, or attempting to work around it. I’ve heard stories, and going through here I realize I’m not alone in this theory. I’m serious when I say “Do not work here unless you will assist in unionizing.” This isn’t your average retail experience. This is a nightmare and it keeps getting worse. If I learned how form a union sooner I would have done so, but I’m done. I’m tired of being chronically understaffed and underpaid.
