Pros

Good overtime, good training. Deputies willing to help the Cadets and rookies. Beautiful SERT team.

Cons

No contact with the outside world while in the jail. Smells in the jail are distinct. Bad work life balance. Mandatory overtime clause is abused. No real perks. K9 for Detention is canceled. The sitting Sheriff threatens to fire deputies all the time. He forces back to back mandatory overtime but he himself never stays. He loves the camera but not his deputies. Many deputies are overworked.

Pros

Nothing as of 4 months in the fiend, including academy time.

Cons

Lack of communication everywhere and so much ambiguity. Academy is the only time you're given any information about the job, moreso jail standards and not so much what you do and experience and pay & benefits you hear nothing about from anyone.
