Pros

There are few good reasons for working at Biblica. Some of the people are great and are definitely underutilized.

Cons

Do not work for Biblica. The Board of Biblica cares about their ego, rather than the mission. Resources are used to pay top-level management ridiculously high salaries, while everyone else is paid poorly. Fragmented global leadership that believes they are better than everyone else. Inconsistency in expectations. Ridiculous expectations from a completely clueless board.

Biblica Response
6y
Biblica, as with most nonprofit organizations, has continued to evolve through seasons of social movements, economic uncertainty and leadership transitions. For more than 200 years, Biblica has helped people beyond the reach of God’s Word discover the love of Jesus Christ. This could not have been done without dedicated teams of people who were willing to take risks and weather the storms of organizational change. In 2019, as Biblica enters its third century of Bible translation and engagement, God has revealed a new vision of ministry inspired by radical generosity. Through collaborative efforts with other like-minded organizations, Biblica produces relevant and reliable Scripture translations and resources that minister to people on the margins of the Gospel — the unreached, unengaged, unseen, and unwanted. We are confident this new season--and its leadership--addresses many of the concerns raised in this review, and will inspire those who want to join us in this mission.

Dysfunctional environment with male dominated leadership

Pros

They recently redid the upstairs office so the cubicles are new. Good coffee.

Cons

This organization is outdated. There are too many people in top leadership positions that have been there for years, regardless of work competency, leadership inabilities and disregard for HR policies. The US board of directors, compromised of mostly white Texan males, are hyper involved in the day to day activities of the organization. While Biblica says it's pro female, there is a lack of female presence and voice in any top leadership positions. The HR department is a joke. Sexism is guised as "jokes" and complaints are disregarded. I ultimately let this organization because of the poor management and leadership. The same people continue to get promoted while true talent is not rewarded but rather denied.

Pros

God has entrusted Biblica with the worlds greatest resource—the Bible. With over 70, quality Bible translations, in the worlds most popular languages, Biblica’s mission has an unparalleled potential to help billions of people grow in their pursuit of authentic relationship with their creator. It’s a global organization, made up of people committed to its mission. As stewards of the NIV translation, Biblica supports the Committee on Bible Translation's strenuous work to deliver the very best combination of accuracy and readability. In this light, Biblica is an excellent place to serve.

Cons

While God is accomplishing amazing things through Biblica, Biblica struggles to find its full potential. Disruption in the print industry’s support of digital publishing has presented many challenges. Biblica has difficulty sharing its passion in a clear way and at times has difficulty executing.
