Pros

Benefits, but ONLY if you qualify for them. Beautiful place to work. Friendships with co-workers who actually do and care about a job well done.

Cons

I worked for over 20+ years and I've seen it ALL. What used to be decent with this company is now terrible. The flex and reserve employment model has become a fiasco for those who work full time and must constantly train or babysit unqualified employees. For the company, this model is saving itself tons of money in terms of no benefits, but the turnover is atrocious. Management stinks. Front line employees make this Company what it is and they can barely eke out a living working here. Raises are ridiculously low no matter how hard you work or how long you have been employed. If you enjoy acting like a robot everyday, continuously nodding your head up and down (being a 'yes wo/man'), then this is the place to be. If you have a brain and offer opinions, suggestions, or prove that not everything should be done 'the Biltmore way', you are kicked to the curb. Managers and crew leaders are hired with questionable or no credible credentials and their crews become miserable with notorious turnover. Company surveys are a total waste of time because no one in management is going to change anything for the better. Managers have no backbone to stand up for what is best for their departments............instead, they are toadies who bow to the kings. Upper management makes ridiculous decisions costing thousands or millions of dollars for Mickey Mouse attractions and then lose money on them or remove them altogether a year later because of poor vision.

Pros

The scenery is exceptionally beautiful

Cons

The worst part of this company is the management. People are promoted into management positions based on who they know, who they are related to, and blatant favoritism. It is run as a high school clique instead of a business. Within the decade that I worked there I have personally witnessed bullying, embezzlement, retaliation, and lots and lots of favoritism. The executives don't really seem to be living in reality- wasting tons of money on completely nonsensical practices that fail miserably instead of actually paying a living wage to the front line employees that are really the lifeblood of the company. Don't bother going to Human Resources about any issues you see or have because it will be swept under the rug and you will be labeled a "problem employee" for the duration of your employment. Anyone I've encountered in management and above is sneaky and will throw you under the bus in a hot minute to make themselves look good. Also, when you do leave even if you give a notice and have been a model employee you will still get bad references. In fact, I had my entire medical history told to a potential employer (and yes, I will be retaining an attorney). Don't waste your time with this greedy, crooked company- you will never be paid your worth, you will never be appreciated, and unless you know or suck up to the right people you will never advance even if you are beyond qualified.

We appreciate feedback from our former employees and will share this with our leadership team. While we hope that all of our team has a positive experience working at Biltmore, we understand that may not always be the case. We greatly value these comments, however, as they help us improve our workplace environment for the future.
