Worst job ever, lies, blame, many years of my life gone forever

Pros

Only pro is that it is good resume builder. Worth doing as a first job out of the lab to get a taste of corporate politics, not as a long term career option.

Cons

Worked at Bio-Rad Australia for several years. Has a very strong culture of blame. No responsibility in local management, always takes the easy way out, knowing that it would lead to certain trouble. When trouble occurs the blame game begins. Management is purely focussed on short term goals internally and with customers. As such work is centered around, getting the sale done, no follow ups, then dealing with complaints and explosive situations as they occur, being on the back foot rather than genuine business development. Australian office contains people who are in it for themselves as they can't find a job elsewhere. The company's good name has attracted genuine talent however these people who highly skilled in decision making, are knowledgable, and have capability are driven out by ego-centric management. The toxic culture doesn't promote responsibility, accountability, and an environment to build a successful company. There is deep division between different local departments. Bickering between regional management doesn't help either. There has been a constant stream of redundancies over the last few years. Reps known to promise the world with reliable products then when the customers want help with breakdowns, they are given the response that it is their fault for buying Bio-Rad products. Ego centric reps love to demonstrate their sales prowess when most of the customers buy Bio-Rad simply because of the product.

They don't practice what they preach in their policies

Pros

Successful company; have some good products

Cons

They don't practice what they preach in their policies. 'Treating employees with dignity and respect is a myth and doesn't happen'. Departing employees are treated disgracefully. There are no leaders, hence there is no leadership! Far too many individual contributors only interested in themselves.
