Pros

I worked at Biosearch Technologies for 10+ years, helping a scrappy startup grow into a premier biotechnology company. It was pragmatic and innovative, with visionary leadership. Then it was acquired by LGC.

Cons

LGC manages their acquisitions like an extraction industry. They drive out talent through dictatorial management, broken promises, and a singular obsession on money. How much did you make me last week? What about next? The employees are not bankers selling financial products. LGC has total disregard for bad news or feedback. Poor understanding of our products and services. Do not even care to understand. Leadership will only grow what they know: hard-charging sales and marketing types who belong to their own tribe. For those working in the trenches there is mass resignation, both literally and emotionally. There is a total loss of passion when the workload is absurd and upper management is dysfunctional. They treat employees like commodities, while trying to manage from 30k feet. It is with tremendous sadness that I no longer recommend that anyone work there.

Pros

It is better than being unemployed.

Cons

This company is simply an asset passed from one investment group to the next. Every time investors come by there is worry the company will be bought and then outsourced and everyone lose their jobs. The employees are nice but there is rot at the top. The pay and time off are not competitive. Because the pay is so low the turnover is very high thus we are constantly begged to work overtime which many people do just to survive. The equipment and software is mostly 20+ years old and the company seems determined not to improve because the capital investment would hurt their numbers. So the company takes increasingly more sales orders without investing in improvements or without considering if it is operationally possible to generate the massive amount of product with the same number of equipment and staff. The expectations are always shifting and things are not communicated via email so there is a lot of guessing.

Pros

Some of the people who work at Biosearch are nice and make the place bearable

Cons

The focus of this company is on revenue targets, profit margins and not on quality work. There is no science going on at Biosearch, only mindless work hence the high turn over. Managers are not knowledgeable. They only apply pressure on employees A few sr manages are aggressive and self absorbed. He keeps saying he has enough money to retire but he is still there belittling people HR is on managers side and does nothing for employees Low pay for expensive location No career development
