Pros

There were some amazing co-workers and friends within the company.

Cons

Let me start by saying I was at BizIQ for 2 years and my focus with this review isn't malice. I only want the developers and other employees coming into this company to be treated properly and not pulled into some abusive relationship. That being said... here we go. Complaints about compensation were met with belittlement and condescension even after developers were approached with other job opportunities (real offers not some recruiter on LinkedIn). The position was treated like the bottom of the totem pole which was enforced by the behavior of other departments in the company. This business model was meant for sites to be developed at the pay rate of some third world country site-mill, not the team who pushed their education and their capabilities as far as ours had WITHOUT the support of the company they worked for. They don't listen to anything until you're heading out the door, and complain about not hearing the same things you've been saying for years. The build process is old and deprecated, despite desperate efforts by the developers to elevate it and bring it into current best practices. The owners will work on convincing you you're not worth a decent developer salary in order to justify poor pay rates. But the fact of the matter is one developer left for a 20k increase in pay, another for 23k increase, and myself for 15k. This isn't make believe. We're all a month into our new jobs and life has never been better. There are employees who have been there for 3 years without a raise. Don't be mistaken, there are good people in this company. There are hard workers who, despite the conditions, value their work. But, they're scarce. The whole IT side of the building is mostly neglected and undervalued. A good example would be when we all voted on changing the cold brew with our own departments budget (which was cheaper by the way). The owner liked the old cold brew, so 12 out of 13 votes were thrown away, the one vote being a joke... Our own departments budget... "Salary" employees are required to be clocked in no later than 4 minutes past 7AM or else it will be logged and sent in a report... That's not salary. Spark (the company chat system) is monitored and the use of any manager or owners name in Spark chat will notify them and allow them to drop into your conversations. It's a very sick and fear driven work culture. I'm sure there will be a passive aggressive response to this. Maybe even new employment will be met with an artificial approach to dissuade you of any of this being the case, and even if that is the positive change that occurs... good. At least it would be something, because developers work too hard to learn and perform the things that most other people stop at. That's why we are developers. And that means a lot more to other companies than it does to BizIQ. P.S. - The 4 stars for management is for all the managers that have done way more than is required for far too long.

Pros

Product concept works, co-workers are generally nice. Some managers still care about you and the customers

Cons

Task abusers, For the most part ownership plays nice with hourly employees but beat up their managers on an ongoing basis and push us to the point of yelling back. Horrible experience just trying to do a good job. Lots of promises made very few kept by owners. Forget feeling good at the end of a work day. You can have a productive successful week and still be picked on and yelled at by owners without justification. Owners are sociopaths. Care for no one and nothing but themselves.
