A lot of down side. First, the pay for an AE is a joke but if you have little experience or really just need a job, then fine otherwise why would you do this? On top of that, prepare for an endless cycle of having to do the dirty work of managing BizX's customers. Here is the problem: yes, customers do get "business" they otherwise wouldn't have received in the form of a trade credit. Earning credits or buying with credits will cost customers real money. About 6% on either side, or both! So they are coming out of pocket from the get go, but HEY they can use their BizX bucks right? That is when the problems occur, because no one gets a deal when you try to spend your BizX...if you even can. Do you want to manage accounts who have too much trade dollars that they can't utilize, only to be held accountable for it by the owners as to why you can't get these accounts to spend? When they finally want to spend they have to come to grips of the reality they their currency is grossly de-valued. That is a problem for businesses with low margins on hard goods such as sunglasses for example. If you are a media company, you can give up garbage remnant space because what does it matter? See what I'm saying. Worst job I have ever had. But that isn't the main problem: the owners could care less about you. Prepare for wild mood swings, anger management issues, and the worst examples of real leadership you will ever witness. But hey, if you haven't had a decent job in the past what does that matter to you right? If you invest too much time here, you will pigeon hole your career and will find it hard to pivot.
