Great to have on resume, good benefits, not for long-time employment
Pros
- Job Security: bKash is a really strong company, and even in an economical crisis, the company has the resources to keep going, so almost no risk of being fired, of course, except for your own faults. - Health insurance, Festival bonus, Yearly tours are good. Especially the health insurance is really good compared to the other companies in the country. - Nice collection of talented developers, because the interview process is good. If you can get in, you can learn a lot from your coworkers. - On-time Salary: I know it's bad enough that we need to list this as a "Pro" at all, but truth to be told, not all companies do it. bKash disburses salary on 25th of every month, or before. No exceptions. - Work-life Balance: The work environment is relaxed, and doesn't affect personal life much. - Affect on people: You get to contribute to the very life of mass people by working directly on products that even your family members or neighbors might use.
Cons
- Imbalanced salary distributions: They ask for your previous employer's salary certificate, and make offers according to that. I have seen developers in the same role with one getting half the other one. - Slow salary growth: The increment is low compared to the inflation. - Biased Performance Review: They have yearly quotas for how many employees get promotions. So even if your performance is great, you still might lag behind because of the quotas. - Slow progress of work: The projects are huge. The pace is very slow, which makes the work environment somewhat more relaxed, but it makes you slow eventually. - Lack of Recognition: From my 3 years of work there, I can say I didn't feel recognized for my work. My take is, it's good to work here for 2 years, the records looks nice on your resume, it's a pretty big company. But move soon if you are not making much of a career progress.
