Working at Black Wednesday was a deeply frustrating and discouraging experience. The company’s biggest issue lies with the CEO whose behavior was consistently unprofessional and lacked basic boundaries. Feedback was vague, dismissive, and delivered in a way that was NOT constructive. Asking for clarification was frequently met with ridicule for not already knowing how to solve brand new or unclear problems and was always told to “take better notes” when there was no clear assignment outlines.
This toxic dynamic resulted in having to redo the same work multiple times, only to be questioned about my competence, despite receiving glowing feedback from clients and producing strong results. There was a big disconnect between how clients valued my work and how it was treated internally.
There is also no clear path for professional development. When you ask how to grow or improve, the answer is essentially “figure it out yourself,” and you’re made to feel inadequate for even asking. Compensation is well below industry standards, and there are no real benefits, no real PTO (most employees start with 5 days), and no meaningful perks for employees.
