I hear this used to be a good place to work, some great people I know have started their careers here. Some good people still work here.

Cons

NO support from ownership, all they care about is profit, profit, profit. They would outsource the whole company overseas if they could. Middle managers are only “Yes” men for the owners. A couple employees (see 5 star reviews) are in the “privileged inner circle” if not.. you are a peasant not worthy of their time. Becoming a revolving door of employees and management has no clue that their uppity attitudes are one of the biggest reasons why. Best thing to do is lay low and don’t say anything, you will be ignored, but at least not bothered. Until that is the “spinning wheel of blame” points to your desk, then you are done.

The positive reviews are posted by the golden children of the company. This business has "grown" by buying out smaller successful companies, not by the quality of work they do for SMB's. This is a typical "managed services" IT business and although there are some talented engineers working for them, The owner/management team micromanages their techs & is largely unavailable to the rank and file for any serious discussion on process improvement..

There are a few good people that work here and make it enjoyable.

I think a lot of people before me have said it best. If you are not one of the favorites you are going to have a tough time here. It's a husband and wife that own the company and if you get on the wife's bad side you're screwed. You might as well find another job because regardless how well you are at your job she will treat you horribly. Hard work is not recognized if you are not an engineer. Reviews are a joke where your raise is dependent on how the owners feel at that time. Generally it's a really low increase because they want to make more money.

I'm sorry you feel this way about your experience at BlackPoint. We work hard to ensure that there's no favoritism and that people are measured fairly based on their effort and results. We use a systematic process to evaluate our employees and make pay increases based upon their review score as determined by their manager ranked against other employees of the same level, their current salary and where it sits in their pay range and overall future potential contribution to the business.
