In one single word: nepotism

Pros

Lots of good people, good location in Ashland Oregon, and decent benefits too (but not great ones like they seem to think).

Cons

SO much nepotism, oh my God. Also a huge lack of communication from upper management which is a shame because most employees would love working there with just a little more communication via email.

Greed and Nepetism

Pros

Some good people, most are douchy

Cons

Greedy management, forced Christian emails from owner, took away suggestion box, no way to anonymously suggest things and HR is definitely not on the side of the employee. Everyone is very underpaid and overscrutinized. Many managers are micromanaging and inept at their jobs. Many of the managers never did anything else in life, they were gifted these positions by being teenage friends with the current CEO. No matter how long you work here and how much you do for them, they will turn their back on you and throw you to the curb whenever they want, at the slightest whim.

Pros

The atmosphere is very laid back and flexible. There are many opportunities to move around the company into different positions. The company is growing and the job duties change. The work is fast paced, but work life balance is encouraged.

Cons

I see many negative comments about nepotism, but this is a family owned business. This is clearly communicated upon hire. Open job listings are always posted internally to provide current employees an opportunity to change positions or share the opening with friends and family. There is no corporate ladder, and I have not seen that qualified applicants are overlooked in favor of friends or family. Communication among departments could be improved.
