Pros

Blastec is a leader in their field in regards to blasting equipment. They have large fortune 500 companies as well as small companies and sell between 10-25 machines a year

Cons

The owners and VP treat all employess like dogs. They work employees 50+ hr weeks and promise comp time. Later they send out e-mail challenging employees to find where in the employee handbook any mention of comp time and say it does not exist. They will then demand you work as many hours as it takes to get the job done. no compensation, no bonus;s.They have lost contractors ability to work for them as they refuse to pay. They have no degreed engineers working for the company so they can make outrageous demands as most have no other place to go. People either leave after a few months or stay their entire career. They will also ask you to punch a clock while the VP comes in once or twice a week.

Pros

Met some really great people and lifelong friends. The people are trying hard and the VP has responded on Glassdoor to some of the criticism. He even went so far as to honestly state that Blastec ONLY MATCHES 40% for afamily in regards to health care. This takes GUTS AND HONESTY FOR THE VP to admit in writing on glassdoor that the negative comments written on Glassdoor are true. Most management would simply ignore negative statements and hope that readers would think the post was ficticious. This shows strong character of the VP that i never saw when i was there. They also have a great location in alpharetta.

Cons

Much travel with no rewards. You are paid a salary and are exempt from hourly pay, no overtime or any bonus. You can easily work 60-70 hour weeks with no additional pay while the rest of the company is at home spending time with family. Work the 70 hour week and finish on a Sunday? Be sure to be in early Monday morning. Not sure why the VP stated in his review "We are always considerate of the extra effort put forth by all of our Employees when necessary especially by those in our Field Services and Customer Services departments who spend the majority of their time away from home performing installations and training." This post is empty rhetoric as the company does nothing to reward or compensate Field service techs this is proven by the company paying $40 a day in per diem for food in 2013! You cant use Credit card receipts for actual amounts spent as this is not allowed. You must live within the $40 or pay out of your own pocket! Someone earlier stated they were not treated fairly on a post. Any company that asks you to sleep in a hotel room away from home while working 60 hour work weeks and gives you only $40 to eat on pretty much tells you the mentality of management. To say that they treat service fairly is just plain ridiculous. Hows a $40,000 a year salary for a service technician working 60 hour weeks out of town sound fair and give you only $40 a day for your food? Doing some simple math in regards to meals with breakfast starting at the Airport will show you that the employee loses money. Why do that to a person who is working 12 hour days while you bill them out at $100 or more per hour? They also want you to punch a timeclock even if you are salary to be certain you put in at least 40 hours in the office and could care less that you work 50 hrs a week. You have to explain yourself constantly. if you dont have 40 hours punched in even when you travel, be prepared to explain where and when you went out. There is no advancement at Blastec. All of the raving positive reviews on glassdoor are obvious from management in an attempt to contradict the negative reviews...

Pros

Manufacturing is in there own building and have all the tools you need to work well. you can work many hours as they hire when they have alot of work and you will work monday threw saturday.

Cons

Will cut you as soon as work slows down. Dont pay nothing like they should and forget trying to afford insurance to. you have to work all the hours to make ends meet and the manufactuing manager is salary and he gets worked to death running all over the place. they dont know what they are doing from one week to the next as far as work so you run all over the place never getting anything done its really disorganized. dont give notice when you quit either.
