Pros

Job can be fun and provide a sense of community service.

Cons

Getting assaulted by homeless people and developing a heightened state of awareness (PTSD) by being forced to make daily contact with homeless people who aren’t even breaking the law. As a manager for BBB, you’re often at the mercy of your customer’s word against yours, without any support from Block By Block to back you up. The company swept multiple disability cases under the rug by firing personnel while also refusing to acknowledge manager feedback for improvement of program and customer relations that caused said issues in the first place. Additionally, even if you meet company standards, you can still be fired without cause for going above and beyond customer expectations, even when your customer’s conduct is extremely unprofessional. Good riddance to this employer. You can be the best manager in the world but they’ll fire you the moment you do one seemingly insignificant thing wrong. Long story short, my customer refused to communicate on multiple occasions then blamed me for it and had me fired so that I could be the scapegoat for their poor executive decision making.

Pros

Better than minimum wage, overtime

Cons

You have to stand. No sitting, no leaning. I was told if your feet are tired, just walk. Like wow. The MBTA can sit in their booths all day on their phones and we have to wait for it to be above 90 degrees just to be allowed to STAND in the booth for 10 minutes every hour. No sitting. You sit on breaks and breaks only. I picked 4 days a week yet got 6 days. I would love to work more if I was allowed to sit, but after a couple days, I need break. So if block by block reads this. Let your employees sit. This is why turnover rate is so high. We need union. Why am I standing in the heat while the MBTA gets paid more for being in a nice booth sitting on their phones.
