I worked at BlueCrest Capital Management full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Free cereal, toast and soft drinks, lunch is also okay and breakfast is nice on Fridays Office location

    Cons

Work long hours overtime and get paid well below market rate. Hard work/dedication/impact are absolutely not rewarded. The worst is that they won’t even get appreciated at all. A lot of micro management including having to report in detail every day, every 3-4 hours to higher management what you’ve been working on. No room for career progression or personal growth. Technology stack is not a priority. There is distinct lack of interest from higher management. Constant pressure from management to release features into production in very tight deadlines. Deplorable HR policies with regard to non-compete. They WILL try to enforce the 6 month non-compete in your contract irrespective of where you are going, how junior you are and what job you will be doing. If you're considering joining, I would suggest not signing anything that relates to a non-compete period that isn't paid.

I worked at BlueCrest Capital Management full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good pay, nice people, hard-charging environment

    Cons

Understand that you are a "trade" to senior management, this can be good (lots of resources, good comp) if they expect the trade to continue to pay off, this can be bad (quick to fire and tough post-employment practices even by HF standard)

I have been working at BlueCrest Capital Management full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-In terms of revenue, its absolutely fantastic, smashes it out of the Park year after year. -People, building and Canteen.

    Cons

-Out-side of the front office, churn of junior and mid tier employees is horrendous and moral is not great. -Hard work/dedication/impact are absolutely not rewarded-this is a widely held view. -BC is happier to see good people leave, rather than reward them for a job well done.

I worked at BlueCrest Capital Management full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Convenient location if you happen to travel into Victoria. Decent canteen Nice offices A scattering of truly exceptionally talented people

    Cons

Relatively low remuneration for the industry (especially considering company performance) A distinct lack of interest in Technology from higher management Deplorable HR policies with regard to non-compete. If you're considering joining, I would suggest not signing anything that relates to a non-compete period that isn't paid. Significant numbers of ineffective employees that seem to linger interminably - far from the "cut throat" and dynamic enterprise Bluecrest proclaims to be.
