Pros

1. Generally nice and supportive managers 2. Meet interesting customers daily 3. Can scale income via overtime, commission etc 4. Low/ minimal stress 5. Get to go home early if quiet day

Cons

1. Long work hours (12-14 hour days inc commute) which mentally and physically exhausts you despite the job being easy 2. Insanely busy days seeing back to back customers. Only get two 10 min breaks and a 40 min lunch if you get a full day. You’re guaranteed to work during your breaks as you get no scheduled admin time in your day if you have a fully booked clinic 3. Wear and tear on your personal car 4. Low base pay, money comes from commission so basically a sales job 5. Lack of professional development 6. Lone working. Can work in shady areas/ venues which can make you fear for your safety. If you raise this though, team can be supportive 7. Lack of work life balance as days are so long and tiring 8. Lots of kit and stock in your car and house 9. Occupational health- you’re carrying kit, plus using make-do tables and chairs to create your set up. Not ergonomically designed for you which means lots of bending and awkward movements which long term can hurt your health 10. SOPs changing almost every week often increases our workload 11. Your one to one with your manager consists of discussing your sales targets… you actually have no idea how your work is actually helping/ impacting customers

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, we appreciate your honesty and the thoughtful reflections you’ve provided. At Bluecrest, our purpose is to give everyone confidence in their health, and we’re proud of the meaningful difference we make in people’s lives every day. We know we couldn’t do this without the dedication and hard work of our employees, and we’re genuinely grateful for the contribution you made during your time with us. We’re pleased to hear that you found your managers supportive, enjoyed meeting customers, and valued aspects of the role such as its flexibility and earning potential. We’re equally mindful of the areas you’ve highlighted where your experience could have been improved, and we take these concerns seriously. We’d like to reassure you that employee safety and wellbeing are always a top priority for us. We apply an extensive quality checklist when selecting venues to ensure they are suitable, safe and appropriate environments to work in, and our field teams are fully supported by our office-based colleagues. In addition, our Learning & Development function provides ongoing training, including guidance on correct manual handling, to help colleagues manage equipment safely and reduce the risk of strain or injury. We also recognise the importance of work-life balance. To support this, rotas are provided eight weeks in advance to help colleagues plan their time effectively around both work and personal commitments. Our Standard Operating Procedures are regularly reviewed and updated, not to add unnecessary pressure, but to ensure we continue to meet the highest standards of safety and care for both our employees and our customers. In terms of career development, we are committed to creating opportunities for progression within the business, including pathways into Senior Health Assessment Specialist and Health Assessment Specialist Manager roles. We also want to clarify that our approach is centred on providing personalised, clinically appropriate testing based on each customer’s individual needs, rather than operating as a sales-led environment. Over the past year, we’ve made a number of improvements across the business, and feedback like yours plays an important role in helping us continue to grow and evolve. Please be assured that the points you have made are noted, and will be looked in to. Thank you again for your comments. We wish you all the very best in your future endeavours. Kind regards, Marianna

Pros

The work is genuinely meaningful, with teams building digital health products that have real customer impact. There’s a strong sense of purpose and a good level of trust in engineering, with ownership and autonomy encouraged rather than micromanaged. Like any growing organisation, priorities can shift and there are constraints to work through, but the culture is supportive and collaborative. The engineering problems are generally interesting and varied, especially if you enjoy improving systems as well as shipping features.

Cons

The role can sometimes feel stretched between delivery, people management, and cross‑functional alignment, especially when priorities shift. There’ can be a need to lead through ambiguity, which is rewarding but can be demanding during busier periods. Balancing short‑term delivery needs with longer‑term technical and team improvements isn’t always easy. That said, these challenges are recognised, and there’s generally space for open conversation and gradual improvement rather than unrealistic expectations.
